I keep something of an open mind about ghosts.
As science knows more about the Universe we find there are some things that science is still finding out.
Both time and space are not necessarily the fixed mediums we might once have thought they were.

In a similar way that the light we see from the stars takes many years to reach us and therefore what we are seeing is what is from the past , might it be that what some people have seen as ghosts are also the reflections of past times, bounced here by means as yet not understood ?

That is certainly food for thought for some occasions and could be mistaken for the stone tape theory, but then how do we explain contact with such apparitions or ghosts ?
